What is Summry?
They are 5 mins summary of world’s best podcast episodes.
I believe in the power of podcasts to educate, inspire, and spark creativity in humans.
The goal of Summry is to make podcasts accessible and actionable for everyone. I distill the essence of the podcast episodes to deliver the key insights and takeaways straight to your inbox.
They are by no means meant to replace full episodes but they should help you learn the key concepts taught in those. After you read a summry, you may decide to listen to the full episode. I will share the link.
Think of Summry as a combination of Goodreads + Blinkist.
How did it all begin?
Over the past few years, podcasts have changed how I learn and discover new ideas, concepts, and even lessons from some of the best minds out there.
I’ve changed careers a few times now (Sales, Marketing, Sales Ops and more) and I credit podcast learning for making these changes relatively easy. It helped me learn and acquire the right skills at the right time.
I create rough but copious notes for every podcast episode I listen to. I jot down these points to make sure that I retain the key concepts I learn in each episode so that I could apply them. When my friends saw these notes, they loved it and saw value in these ‘rough jots’.
Oh and they loved that these were all handwritten manually. No AI involved.
However, they wanted me to give them some structure and divide them into clear sections for easy comprehension and consumption. That’s how Summry was born. The idea is to distill long podcast episodes into its core values (key lessons and takeaways).
Why this Newsletter?
I’ve created this Substack to share these notes with a broader audience hoping some of them will gain value from these episodes, the way I’ve been able to.
I plan to share 1 Summry every Sunday. These will be delivered straight to your inbox if you hit the subscribe button at the end of this page.
Which shows do I select?
To begin with, I will rotate between episodes from the top 10 most popular shows like the ones listed below
a) Huberman Lab (Health & Fitness) - Andrew Huberman
b) How I built this (Business) - Guy Raz
c) The Knowledge Project (Business) - Shane Parrish
d) Lenny’s Podcast (Tech) - Lenny Rachitsky
e) Rich Habits Podcast (Business) - Austin Hankwitz & Robert Croak
f) The Tim Ferris Show (Business/Tech) - Tim Ferris
g) 30 Minutes to President’s Club (Careers/Sales) - Nick Cegelski & Armand Farrokh
h) B2B Revenue Vitals (Marketing) - Refine Labs
i) The Peter Attia Drive (Health) - Dr. Peter Attia
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, it is an indicative list.
There are some amazing shows out there across categories. To begin with, I am focusing on more generic and broad categories so there is wide applicability.
What help do I need?
If you like what you’ve read so far, please feel free to subscribe and also share this with your friends.
I know that there are 1000 and more newsletters screaming for your attention so if you do decide to subscribe to this, I’d love to make it worth its while.
Please feel free to share any feedback and criticism that will help me improve this for you. Treat this as a community and a two way relation rather than a unidirectional exchange.
Also, if you’d like me to follow summarize shows that I’ve not listed above, feel free to let me know. If there’s enough demand, I will do so.
If, at any point, you start seeing these emails as burden/junk/unwanted, please feel free to unsubscribe but I’d love it if you let me know before you do so I could, hopefully, change your mind by implementing your feedback.
